We carry out environmental monitoring of bats at the PSFV Guadacano project. We study potential roosts and nocturnal activity to provide useful information for assessment and subsequent campaigns.

Working method

We combine non-invasive visual inspections of structures, a review of previous information, listening with ultrasonic detectors and support from infrared cameras. Study points are documented so that campaigns can be compared without disclosing sensitive locations.

Initial observations

The initial 2026 campaign assessed two potential roosts. One showed signs consistent with possible occasional use, but no bats were directly observed and no active colony was confirmed during that visit. Isolated acoustic contacts document activity in the surroundings but do not prove occupancy of a particular structure.

Continuing the work

Interpreting species and seasonal changes requires specialist review and comparable campaigns. We will add further results once they have been validated for public communication.
