The project
At Málaga Viva Lab, an environmental innovation space supported by Málaga Provincial Council, we installed five double-chamber bat boxes in trees and carried out a four-night ultrasonic recording campaign. This establishes an initial reference for nocturnal activity.
Why it matters
Repeated box inspections and acoustic surveys can show how bats use the site over time. An acoustic pass records activity, not an individual animal or confirmed box occupancy. The project provides a practical example of combining habitat measures with measurable monitoring.
